Gay Head Lighthouses
As Martha's Vineyard's exclusive Harbour
Lights dealer we are proud to offer this pieces of island
history. Each lighthouse comes in a handsome gift box with a
history of the light and a certificate of authenticity.
Gay Head Light
- Now Retired
Harbour Lights, creators of the worlds most
popular collectible lighthouses, chose Gay Head Lighthouse
as a special limited edition release. GAY HEAD LIGHT has
now been Retired by Harbour Lights. This replica
is shown with the long gone original keepers house. * We still have some Stock
Located at western tip of Martha's Vineyard and stretching
from the base of the Gay Head cliffs to the Elizabeth Islands,
the shoals of Devil's Bridge await unsuspecting ships. Here perched
atop the cliffs the Gay Head Lighthouse guides sailors
through treacherous rocks and shifting sands.
An original wooden structure, built in 1799, was replaced
by the present 51 foot brick tower in the mid-1850's. In 1902
the handsome keeper's quarters, reflected in our sculpture, was
constructed. This dwelling was demolished in 1956 and most people
today do not know of its existence.
